1,180 kg of saffron was produced in Markazi province

The director of horticulture of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Markazi province said: 1,180 kilograms of saffron were produced in this province this year.

Ali Asghar Zarei added: 385 hectares of agricultural lands in Markazi province are under saffron cultivation, from which four kilograms of saffron are harvested annually from each hectare of these lands.

He continued: 50 hectares of these lands have been planted with saffron this year.

The director of horticulture of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Markazi province pointed out: 1,200 hectares of lands in this province are also under Mohammadi flower cultivation and the province is ranked fifth in the country in this regard.

He said: “Due to the climatic conditions of the country and the central province, the cultivation of low-water plants, including medicinal plants, is on the agenda of the Jihad Agricultural Organization, and now 1,200 hectares of the province’s agricultural lands are planted with these plants, including peppermint, thyme Lavender is dedicated.
