12 hectare increase in saffron cultivation in Sistan and Baluchestan
Horticulture director of Sistan and Baluchestan Agricultural Jihad Organization said:
Saffron cultivation has been delayed by two weeks this year due to hot weather And saffron cultivation has practically started in the first decade of October And it will continue until the end of the second decade of October.
Ardeshir Shahraki added:
This year is expected to be welcomed by farmers 12 hectares added to the area under saffron cultivation in Sistan and Baluchestan And the area under saffron cultivation reaches 44 hectares.
He stated:
Saffron onions required by this management with the participation of farmers from South Khorasan province And Khorasan Razavi has been prepared and provided to farmers.
The official said:
Saffron cultivation has grown significantly in the last three years Currently, the area under saffron cultivation in the province is 22 hectares 9 hectares of which is fertile.
Shahraki stated:
In the last crop year, 45 kg of saffron flowers were produced in Sistan and Baluchestan.
Horticulture director of Jihad Keshavarzi Organization, referring to the low water requirement of saffron, emphasized:
The main performance of saffron has been since the third year And it will have an economic impression for up to 6 years.
He mentioned:
In Sistan and Baluchestan saffron is cultivated in Khash, Mirjavah, Zahedan and 5 other cities of Sistan.
