15% increase in saffron production in Abarkooh city

The head of Abarkooh Agricultural Jihad Management said:
Last year, farmers harvested 400 kg of dry saffron.

Ali Mohammad Hooshmand, head of Abarkooh Agricultural Jihad,
referring to the importance of water productivity and changing the cultivation pattern, said:
with an average production of four kg per unit area and 5.5 to 6 kg in some farms.

He pointed out that the highest area of ​​cultivation of this medicinal plant is located in Faragheh village of the central part, and said:
At present, 200 farmers in the agricultural sector are active in planting and producing saffron in this city.

Abarkooh Agricultural Jihad referring to the fact that saffron onions are cultivated in September, said:
the harvest will start from mid-November to late December.

Hossein Zare added:
Due to the lack of water demand and added value of saffron crop,
this year the area under cultivation will increase by 120% to 120 hectares.

He said that the reason for the increase in the area under cultivation of some crops, including saffron,
is lack of water and adaptation to the climatic conditions of the region.
