180 hectares of agricultural lands of Kuhbanan under saffron cultivation
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Kuhbanan city said:
180 hectares of arable lands of this city are under saffron cultivation.
According to the public relations of the Jihad Kerman agricultural organization,
Ali Akbar Majidi stated that the average yield of this product per hectare is 5 kg.
In another part of his speech, referring to the drop in the water level of the Kerman plain, he emphasized:
in planning, products such as saffron that need less water should be used as an alternative.
Majidi pointed out that saffron cultivation has been common for a long time, noting that the water consumption of this product is lower than other products.
He specified: In this city, saffron fields are irrigated 2 to 4 times a year in winter, which is profitable.
Majidi stated that saffron onions are cooked in the farms of the city, especially in the earthen plain of Zarand city, and reminded: this product is a suitable option for development due to its good income and low need for water. Region
