He said that increasing saffron exports to about 200 tons will bring about $ 400 million in foreign exchange earnings for the country, adding: Iranian saffron is exported to about 45 countries, which should double in the coming years, because in this case we can He hoped that some Iranian saffron rivals, who had not been a major threat to Iranian red gold, would disappear.
Member of the National Saffron Council continued: Another activity that should be considered in the coming years is that in addition to increasing export targets along with increasing production, we should think about reforming the packaging of export saffron in order to prevent re-export of Iranian saffron. Hosseini said: Of course, some countries, such as the United States, in recent years have always prevented the import of Iranian agricultural products to their country, so that Iranian saffron in countries such as Spain, India and Afghanistan is re-packaged and then exported to the United States in the name of other countries. It increases Iran’s red gold for the American people by up to 50 percent and does not interfere with Iran’s exports.
He expressed hope that by implementing saffron development plans, it would be possible to produce 500 tons of saffron in the country for the next five years without the need to increase the area under cultivation and by increasing productivity to one gram of product per square meter.
