20% increase in the area under saffron cultivation in Fars
Shiraz – Director of Horticulture of Fars Jihad Agriculture Organization said:
the province has allocated 460 hectares of land for saffron planting,

Fars province is one of the top five provinces for saffron production in the country.
He pointed out that Esteban is the center of saffron production in Fars province, and specified:

while in Estahban this amount has reached 5.5 to 4.5 kg.
He continued:
Estahban saffron is one of the important products of this city,
to China, Germany, England and the Persian Gulf countries.
the yield of saffron per hectare has increased by 3 to 2
percent and is expected to reach 2 tons and 300 kg.
Sharifi added:
the implementation of research projects that change the planting system and improve
the types of onions can effectively increase the production of Persian saffron.
The director of horticulture affairs of Fars Jihad Agricultural Organization said:
Estahban, Bavanat, Abadeh, Eghlid and Sepidan cities are saffron producing cities in province.
