30% reduction in saffron production in Khorasan Razavi province

The director general of Khorasan Razavi Agricultural Jihad said:
saffron production in the province has decreased by 30% this year compared to last year.

Mojtaba Mazrouei, director general of Khorasan Razavi Agricultural Jihad,
announced the guaranteed purchase of saffron in the province with the help of rural cooperatives in the villages of the province and said:
There are 10 guaranteed saffron shopping centers in the province that collect saffron produced by farmers with the help of rural cooperatives.

He stated:
in order to pay the demands of the people in the discussion of guaranteed purchase of saffron,
we will not have any problems in the province and its credit has been provided,
only the steps of collection and registration in the information system must be completed and then the demands of the people will be paid

In response to our reporter’s question about the situation of saffron crop in the province, Mazrouei said:
Unfortunately, saffron production in the province was reduced by almost 30% compared to last year, due to factors such as colds.
Suitable in saffron fields was one of the reasons for the decrease in saffron production in 1996.

He said:
With the help of the Jihad Agricultural Management of the cities of the province,
special training classes will be held for farmers in the discussion of saffron cultivation, so that our farmer can plant,
maintain and harvest saffron in a scientific way.

Mazrouei pointed out:
Mechanized cultivation is one of the most important factors in increasing and improving saffron production,
and in the second stage, preparing high quality saffron onions for planting to increase productivity should be considered by farmers.
