The director of Jihad Keshavarzi Bakhrez said: the current crop year, the area under saffron cultivation in this city reached four thousand hectares.
Mohammad Dostkhah Ahmadi pointed to the 10% growth of this crop and said: saffron cultivation has been considered by the farmers of this region due to its lower need for water, and its cultivation area is expanded every year, and this year the saffron cultivation area has increased by 300 hectares. had.
He added: The area under saffron cultivation in this area includes 3,700 hectares of fertile farms and 300 hectares of infertile farms. For each hectare from planting to harvest, employment is provided for 250 people a day.
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi Bakhrez announced the harvest of saffron in the last crop year as 15 tons and said: Last year, five kilograms of dry saffron were collected per hectare, which is expected to increase this year.
He stated: In the current crop year, 300 tons of fertilizers have been distributed among saffron growers in this region and now 10 people are directly working in three saffron processing units in this city.
Dostkhah Ahmadi stated: Bakhrez has 12,000 hectares of agricultural and horticultural land and 9,000 farmers.
