The head of the Sistan and Baluchestan Agricultural Jihad Organization said: Five hectares of lands in Zahedan, Mirjavah and Khash are dedicated to saffron cultivation, and it is expected that five kilograms of red gold will be harvested from each hectare.

Reza Najafi added: Cultivation and development of saffron farms and the applicable level of the province in the next 5 years is on the agenda.

Najafi said: Saffron is a subtropical plant that irrigates the land after preparation (plowing and fertilizing) and after a few days of fertilizing the land, saffron onion after preparation from early June to late September, depending on the weather conditions in the region. Can be planted.

He stated: This year, saffron has been cultivated experimentally in four cities of Zabol, Zahak, Helmand and Hamoon, and the amount of economic efficiency of this product in the agricultural lands of these cities will be determined by early December.

He pointed out: Saffron harvest in the province has started since mid-November.

The head of the province’s agricultural jihad stated: It is expected that 25 kilograms of saffron will be produced from Zahedan, Mirjaveh and Khash farms this year and will enter the consumer market.

Najafi also referred to the province’s agriculture moving towards knowledge-based agriculture and said: The use of modern technology for the production of agricultural products in the province is being institutionalized.

He added: Creating employment for agricultural graduates and other related fields and producing products with quality commensurate with export indicators is an important approach of agricultural jihad in the province.

The head of the province’s agricultural jihad said: Sistan and Baluchestan has countless potentials and capabilities in the agricultural sector, especially the production of greenhouse products, which due to high yields, reduced water consumption and production of off-season products in these units, increase production units Greenhouses are important.

He stated: for the optimal use of available resources and facilities and very high capabilities in the agricultural sector of the province, the knowledge and science of educated native youth should be used.
