50 hectares of lands in Hamedan were cultivated with saffron

Horticulture expert of Hamedan Jihad Agricultural Organization said: 50 hectares of lands in Hamedan province were planted with saffron.

Rahim Bayat stated: In the current crop year, 50 hectares of the province’s lands were planted with saffron, which is an increase of 2 hectares compared to the previous crop year, and the production is expected to be 164 kg.

He said: the area under cultivation of this product in Malayer city is 25 hectares, Hamedan is 7.5 hectares, Nahavand is 6 hectares and Tuyserkan is 1.5 hectares.

Bayat reminded: Also in the cities of Kaboudrahang, 3 hectares, Razan 3.3 hectares, Bahar 3.3 hectares and Bahar 3 hectares were planted with saffron and at present no written plan has been developed to increase the area under cultivation of this crop.

The horticulture expert of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of the province stated: Saffron cultivation is useful in the sense that it is one of the low-water crops and does not need water when other crops need water.
