50% reduction in saffron harvest in Sabzevar city
The director of Sabzevar Agricultural Jihad announced a 50% reduction in saffron harvest
from the city’s farms due to the extreme summer heat and drought.
Mohammad Javad Izadian stated that saffron is harvested from 1500 hectares of the city’s lands, and said:
Considering the unprecedented drought last year and the intense heat of this summer,
it is predicted that we will have a significant reduction in the harvest of this crop in Sabzevar city.
considering that most saffron farmers in Sabzevar use animal manure, their saffron is a healthy and organic product.
Izadian pointed to the implementation of the ideal plan of farms in the city despite the drought and added:
in order to develop the quantity and quality of saffron in the city.
Sabzevar is located in the west of Khorasan Razavi in terms of geographical location and borders with Semnan province.
From the north and northwest to Esfarayen and Bojnourd, from the south to Bardaskan, from the east to Neishabour and from the west to Shahroud city of Semnan province.
The area of this city is 20484 square kilometers and its population according to the census of 1390 is 298588 people.
Its distance to Mashhad is 220 km and from the capital of Iran (Tehran) is 660 km.
