75% of the price of saffron is harvest costs
Deputy Minister of Crop Production Improvement of Khorasan Razavi Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization said: 75% of the price of saffron is related to the harvest costs of this product.
Najafgholi Salehi, referring to the need for mechanization of saffron harvest, said: By mechanizing the process of saffron harvest, the costs will be reduced and ultimately this will be in favor of the producer and ultimately the consumer.
He said that so far, devices have been built for filling and drying saffron inside on a trial basis, adding: These devices currently have problems that need to be addressed and have not yet reached mass production.
The Deputy Minister of Crop Production Improvement of the Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization of the province stated: The construction of mechanized machines for harvesting saffron is possible but costly, and at present there are problems in their construction.
Regarding the import of machines for harvesting saffron, Salehi said: Meetings have been held with France and Germany to cooperate in this field, but a final agreement has not been reached yet.
He continued: If the other party agrees, there will be no problem in terms of facilities for the purchase of these devices.
The Deputy Minister of Crop Production Improvement of Khorasan Razavi Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization stated that saffron packing machines are currently available in the country, adding: Farmers to be mechanized.
