90% of Iranian saffron in the name and taste of others

A member of the National Saffron Council said:
More than 90% of Iran’s saffron exports are packaged in the name of others and exported to European countries,
which has a lot of added value for exporting countries.

Ali Hosseini stated: At present, Iranian saffron is exported in two ways:
to the major buyers of this product, who re-export it, and to the final consumer markets.

A member of the National Saffron Council said:
More than 90% of Iran’s saffron exports are packaged in the name of others and exported to European countries,
which has a lot of added value for exporting countries.

Hosseini continued:
Another part of red gold exports to consuming countries such as China, the Netherlands, Australia, Canada, Germany,
which use saffron exports in small packages in capillary networks and with large packages in industrial applications such as pharmacy.

He stated:
The purchase and sale of saffron in world markets has a turnover of about four billion dollars,
and despite the fact that Iran produces more than 90% of the world’s red gold, it has a share of only $ 500 million in the turnover of this product.

A member of the National Saffron Council stressed:
Iran can increase its turnover to one billion dollars a year by providing appropriate infrastructure and eliminating incorrect policies such
as saffron export duties and developing incentive policies and supporting appropriate packaging of target export markets.

Hosseini said:
in order to increase Iran’s share in saffron turnover,
it is necessary to communicate with the world’s consumers and apply expert and rational management based on the needs of the target
markets in the export of this product.
