$ 900 decrease in the value of Iranian saffron over the past two years

Amin Shalchian, on the subject of Challenges of Supplying Agricultural Inputs, stated that since last year we have talked many times about the problems of the agricultural sector, but they were not taken into account. The decisions have led to the value of Iranian saffron rising from $ 1,400 to $ 500 over the past two years.

He continued: Our agricultural structure has been managed for many years. That is, first production takes place and then attention is paid to its sale. If in any guild, first one should pay attention to the field of trade and then the products should be organized accordingly. This negligence in the field of sales has caused that one year there is a product and not another product, and the next year the exact opposite happens, and in the meantime, only the useful resources of the country are lost.

The CEO of Iran Agricultural Cooperatives Trading Company added: The economy cannot be managed with thinking and a government team. Decisions must be left to the private sector.
In the agricultural sector, there are associations and unions that are more than 50 years old and coherent structures have been formed that can use their capacity, and these unions and associations can play a role in various sectors from production to export. Have an effective.

He added: We have repeatedly stated that if agricultural products are to be exported, we need stability in the laws. Decisions overnight destroy the agricultural business. We believe that with the development of the agricultural sector in several provinces, the country can easily be run according to Dutch standards, but this requires the strong presence of private sector activists.

Noting that interfering in the activities of the unions has no other result than destroying the existing capacities, Shalchian said: It was supposed to interact with the private sector, not confrontation. The unions were supposed to play a more active role in the agricultural sector, but unfortunately this did not materialize.

The private sector activist also referred to the food market, especially eggs, next year, saying that eggs would be a problem next year because the ancestors of the laying hens had not arrived and the supply of day-old chicks had decreased.

He said that the Ministry of Jihad for Agriculture should get help from economists to plan in the agricultural sector and have a specific plan, adding that the price of barley in September was 180 euros and corn was 207 euros.
At this point, we announced that a purchase should be made, but unfortunately, there were no plans to buy. The following month, the price of barley increased by 10%, and two months later, the price of barley reached 210 euros. In other words, in less than two and a half months, the price increased by 33%. Percentage that was wasted due to lack of decision-making from the country’s resources.

The CEO of Iran Agricultural Cooperatives Trading Company stated: Our request to the government is that if the currency of 4200 Tomans is to be maintained for next year, it is not a dispute, but if it is to be changed, the approved price should not be determined and the prices should be allowed in the open market. To be determined. When the approved price is set for it, it means again the protection currency, the presence of the government and finally control and rent. Either the rent should be removed altogether and the market should be free or the currency should remain the same.

He added: From the very first days, we announced that the currency of 4200 Tomans is wrong. A double currency creates corruption. Although with the removal of the market preferred currency will be accompanied by an increase in prices, but foreign exchange resources are distributed among all and do not go into the pockets of a particular group.

Shalchian stated that in order to get out of this situation, the field of decision-making must return to the production sector: the private sector has the ability to meet the needs of the people.
There will be no change as long as there are irresponsible people for whom the profits and losses of the activity are not particularly important in this sector.
Government interference in organizations must also be prevented. The production sector should be connected to the decision-making elements in the government, and the private sector can be in the same decision-making position with the Ministry of Silence, the Ministry of Jihad for Agriculture and the Central Bank. Also use international capacities through synergy.

In the end, he also referred to the circular of the Central Organization of Rural Cooperatives to the heads of rural cooperatives of the provinces on banning the employment of retirees in unions: This circular is in fact a public sector decision for the private sector and the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture is still retired. He uses it in this ministry, but we have been informed about this.
