Mafia is the scourge of saffron in Lorestan
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi in the center of Lorestan said: Some are the saffron mafia and they buy this product at a low price and sell it at a high price.
Murad Biranvand stated: Last year, the area under saffron cultivation in Khorramabad was 45 hectares, which has increased to 72 hectares this year.
He continued: Fortunately, this crop has been well received by farmers and is economically viable.
Biranvand, expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of processing industries for saffron cultivation, clarified: Some are the saffron mafia and buy this product at a low price and sell it at a high price.
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi in the center of Lorestan emphasized: We must form a cooperative to deal with the mafia, so that the farmers can pack and sell themselves.
Regarding the lack of insurance for saffron cultivation, he said: Farmers should propose to the Agricultural Insurance Fund that this product be included in the insurance. Last year, approximately 15% of saffron cultivation in Khorramabad was damaged.
