Production of saffron flower petal sweat

For the first time, researchers at the Torbat Heydariyeh Institute extracted and produced saffron petal sweat by distillation.
Regarding this issue, Ahmadian said: Saffron petals have many medicinal and therapeutic properties, but so far these properties have been ignored. And saffron is mostly consumed as a food seasoning.
However, for many countries that buy our saffron, the medicinal and therapeutic properties of this product are of paramount importance.
Ahmadian added that an examination of the experiments showed that the compounds in the saffron petal sweat were somewhat similar to the saffron petal itself, which made it easier to consume. According to research conducted on 100 people over a period of ten months, the same properties have been observed.
He said: The method of producing saffron petal sweat has been introduced to one of the reputable producers of roses and distillates in order to proceed with mass and industrial production.
He said: The most important medicinal and export plant in the country is saffron, which has the highest score among medicinal plants in terms of currency.
Annually, more than 300 tons of dried stigmas and 30,000 tons of fresh saffron flowers are produced in Iran, of which only dry stigmas are considered.
About seven liters of sweat can be taken from each kilogram of dried saffron flower petals, which has anti-depressant, invigorating, and intensifying blood flow inside the arteries and strengthens memory and brain.
Among the seventy thousand hectares of saffron fields, about eight thousand four hundred hectares, equivalent to twelve percent, belong to the city of Torbat Heydariyeh.
The average saffron in Khorasan Razavi province is four kilograms per hectare, which in Torbat-e Heydarieh reaches 4.2 kilograms.
