Beginning of saffron harvest from 22 hectares in Gilan province

The head of Gilan Agricultural Jihad Organization announced the beginning of saffron harvest in the mountainous areas of the province and said: the area under cultivation of this crop in the province is 22 hectares.

Massoud Almasi predicted: more than 67 kg of saffron with an economic value of 16 billion and 820 million rials will be harvested from this level.

He stated: Saffron cultivation in Gilan province is done in Siahkal, Rudbar, Amlash, Rasht, Rezvanshahr, Soomehsara and Fooman cities, and the highest area under cultivation with 14 hectares belongs to Siahkal city.

He mentioned the cultivation of this product as an opportunity to create employment and income: Saffron is a medicinal plant that, if it is compatible with the conditions of the region, with the lowest cost and dehydration; It creates significant economic change for the region.

Saffron is cultivated in potential mountainous areas of Gilan with an altitude of 1,200 to 2,300 meters above sea level.

This plant was cultivated for the first time in 2008 in Gilan. Consumption of saffron increases immunity, increases blood circulation, protects heart health, controls diabetes, reduces anxiety, strengthens bone strength, improves nerve function, antidepressants, prevents cancer, treats inflammation and reduces pain and reduces stomach disorders.
