Saffron harvest was completed in 60% of farms in Khorasan Razavi

The director of horticulture affairs of Khorasan Razavi Jihad Agricultural Organization announced
the end of saffron harvest in 60% of the province’s farms and said:
the whole saffron harvest period will continue until the end of December.

Hashem Nagibi added:
the harvest is almost over in the cold regions, but it still remains in the tropical regions of Mashhad.

He abandoned saffron harvest due to the economic impact on the market of this strategic product and continued:
This year, 93,000 hectares of farms have been considered for saffron cultivation,
the amount of which depends on weather conditions. .

The director general of horticulture affairs of Jihad Keshavarzi said:
each hectare of saffron in the stages of planting, holding and harvesting creates 200 working days,
65% of which is working in harvesting, cleaning and drying saffron.

Nakibi added: 129 thousand farmers in the agricultural sector of Khorasan Razavi are producing saffron.

The country currently has 120,000 hectares of saffron cultivated,
of which 92,000 hectares are in Khorasan Razavi and 130,000 households work on the farm
of which 109,000 households cultivate saffron under one hectare.

Each hectare of saffron creates jobs for 200 people and it can be boldly
said that this product is unique for job creation and family building,
so that about 600,000 people in Khorasan Razavi make a living by planting and collecting red gold.
