Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari saffron is sold raw
Director of Horticulture of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Jihad Agricultural Organization, pointing out that there is no specific brand in the province for the fledgling saffron industry, said: Saffron is now sold raw in the province.
Ebrahim Shirani added: In the province, 238 hectares are under saffron cultivation, which is harvested from each hectare on average based on the yield of four to five kilograms of saffron.
Referring to the fact that the saffron industry is new in the province, he said: More than 80% of the saffron product produced in the province is exported to Razavi and South Khorasan and sold under the brand of that province.
According to him, the guaranteed purchase of saffron is done only in the provinces that are the main producers of this product, including South Khorasan and Razavi, and the saffron product produced in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari is mostly sold in bulk or in partnership with other provinces.
Shirani stated: After producing saffron and separating the product, the farmers of the province provide saffron to the buyers of Khorasan provinces and they also sell the product of the province under their own brand.
He added: Guaranteed purchase of saffron product will not be done until a special organization or brand is formed in the province, and farmers are forced to hand over their product to buyers in Khorasan provinces.
Shirani, pointing out that the employment of this agricultural product is seasonal, added: saffron cultivation at the time of harvest, which from the last decade of October to early November, 20 to 25 people per hectare creates employment in the field of harvesting and separation.

Shirani added: This product has high quality, aroma and coloring power due to the climate and topography of the province, and the buyers of the product, who are mostly from the provinces of Khorasan Razavi and South Khorasan, add this product to their product and use it under their own brand. They sell.
He emphasized on the development of cultivation of medicinal plants in the province and also the branding of medicinal plants in each region by the name of that region and said: Product and branding has been issued, but a specific brand has not yet been activated for the province.
