Parvin Ramek stated: Currently, medicinal plants that are cultivated or mass-produced in natural habitats, have the ability to participate in global markets, currency and competitiveness in the field of international economy.
He added: In the 70s and until the mid-80s, coriander and fennel were cultivated on a large scale in the cities of Selseleh and Delfan, but unfortunately in recent years, the area under cultivation of these plants has decreased sharply and it is necessary to study and pathology in this regard.
Ramak continued: During the research and studies of the Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Center of the province in recent years, it has been determined that saffron cultivation in Kuhdasht, Khorramabad and Biranshahr counties has the best compatibility and the average production in the farms of these counties is 7.5 kg.
This researcher of Lorestan Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Center stated: This figure is higher than the average saffron production in the country, which was about 5.5 kg.
He pointed out: Cultivation of different species, including thyme in the farms of the center has also shown that these species will have good production and yield if cultivated.
Ramak said: Due to the existence of talents and comparative advantages of climate and diversity of medicinal species in the province, it is necessary to pay special attention to the cultivation of medicinal plants and programs in the field of mass production and commercialization of medicinal plants and sustainable use of natural resources in the province.
