Prediction of harvesting 1372 kg of dried saffron from Tabas farms

The director of Tabas Agricultural Jihad said: the work of harvesting saffron from 404 hectares of gardens in this city will start from the second half of November and will continue until the end of December and it is predicted that about 1372 kilos of dry saffron will be extracted this year.

Davood Bakhshaei, among the deputies of the Tabas Agricultural Jihad Office, stated: The saffron support operation for the farmers of Tabas city is being carried out by the Rural Cooperative Union.

He added: Due to the size of Tabas city and the diversity of climate, the time of saffron harvest in different parts of the city has been different, but the highest level of cultivation of this product is in Dastgerdan and Dehuk districts.

Bakhshaei added: Despite consecutive droughts, it is predicted that about 1,372 kilos of dry saffron will be harvested this year.

He stated: To raise the level of awareness of saffron growers and increase the quality of this product, 2 training classes on the correct principles of planting, familiarity with diseases and pests of saffron and hygienic processing of saffron have been formed.

The director of Tabas Agricultural Jihad said: the services provided to saffron growers, in addition to expert services and supply of agricultural inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides, purchase of a garden cultivator to reap the city’s saffron fields, distribution of 112 kg of Soloptas fertilizer and 60 liters of humic acid for feeding Saffron farms were at the level of 12 hectares.

Bakhshaei added: to compensate for the frost damage of saffron orchards in the city, the amount of 39 thousand and 525 million Rials of low-interest and long-term facilities has been allocated to one thousand and 152 saffron farmers in the city for level 348 .
