Production of 216 kg of saffron in Lorestan province
Horticulture director of Lorestan Jihad Agricultural Organization announced the production of 216 kg of saffron in the province.
Engineer Behrouz Baharvand stated: Saffron is one of the valuable plants that according to the experiments done in the province, it can be cultivated in the dry season.
He pointed out: In this regard, about 82.84 hectares of the province’s lands have been cultivated with this crop, which has a yield of 5 kg per hectare.
Baharvand continued: It is predicted that 216 kg of saffron will be produced from this amount of land, which is in an excellent degree in terms of quality.
Horticulture director of Lorestan Jihad Agricultural Organization added: Saffron onion can be grown from the time of saffron plant fall (early June) to mid-October, but it is better in mid-summer when the air and soil are very hot and the relative humidity is extremely low. And onions may be damaged and not grown.
