Export of Iranian saffron to the United States after 15 years
The head of the Saffron Export Development Fund announced the export of the first shipment of Iranian saffron to the United States after 15 years,
following the implementation of Borjam and Iran’s nuclear agreements with the P5 + 1 countries until next week.
Mohammad Javad Rezaei stated:
At present, the saffron market is suitable and its price has reached about seven million tomans per kg,
which shows that due to the increase in production of this product in the country,
its sales situation in the domestic and foreign markets is also suitable.
Rezaei said:
After the implementation of Borjam and Iran’s nuclear agreements with the P5 + 1 countries,
European countries such as Spain also demanded the direct purchase of Iranian saffron,
while during the embargo on the export of this product to European countries was severely restricted and reduced.
Because of the banking sanctions, the transfer of money and currency had faced many problems.
The head of the Saffron Export Development Fund continued: Currently, the United States has applied to buy saffron, and soon the first shipment of 20 kg of saffron is ready to be sent to the United States for the first time in 15 years, and it is expected that this export will take place next week.
He said: During the embargo, countries such as the UAE and even Spain played the role of intermediaries and brokers in the Iranian red gold market and bought this valuable product from Iran and traded in the name and packaging and brand in the global market.
According to Rezaei, direct export of saffron to European countries can boost up to 40% of the Iranian saffron market.
