Harvesting 5 kg of saffron per hectare in Fars province

More than 3 tons and 800 kg of saffron is harvested in Fars,
with an average harvest of 5 kg per hectare.
The head of the Fars Agricultural Jihad predicted that more than 3 tons and 800 kg of saffron would be harvested in Fars this year.

Mehrzad Kherad added: The average harvest of saffron per hectare is 5 kg.

He specified:
The main centers of saffron production in Fars province are cold cities such as Estahban Sepidan and Eghlid.

Wisdom, stating that the quality and taste of Persian saffron is unique in Iran, said:
Saffron produced in Khorasan is famous for its good color, but in Fars province,
saffron produced with better quality and flavor is produced.

He stated that Fars currently has the fifth place in saffron production after Khorasan Razavi, South, North and Isfahan provinces.

The governor of Estahban said:
450 hectares of the lands of this city are dedicated to saffron cultivation,
from which 5 kilograms of crop is harvested.
Mohammad Mehdi Sharafi, stating that Estahban saffron is of high quality compared to other Iranian saffrons, added:
It is expected that 1,500 kg of dried saffron will be harvested from Estahban farms.
He added: Saffron is a low-water crop and can be a good alternative for high-water crops.
Sharafi said:
with each planting of saffron, the crop can be harvested for up to 7 years and after 7 years,
the onions are squeezed, which are moved by the onion farmers.
The governor of Estahban said:
70% of the saffron in this city is consumed inside the country and the rest is exported to the countries of the Persian Gulf,
China, South Korea, Japan, Germany and Spain.
Estahban is located 175 km east of Shiraz, which is the center of saffron and fig production in this province.
