20% increase in saffron cultivation in Golestan province

The deputy director of horticulture management of Golestan Agricultural Jihad announced a 20% increase in saffron cultivation in the province.
Mohammad Bagheri added:
saffron has been cultivated on 120 hectares of farms in the Vamnan region of Golestan,
of which 60 hectares have been harvested.

He stated:
the area under saffron cultivation in the province was 100 hectares and this year,
this amount has increased by 20 percent.

The Deputy Director of Horticulture of Golestan Agricultural Jihad stated
that the reason for the increase in the area under cultivation was good economic justification and its suitable situation.

Bagheri announced that the amount of saffron harvested last year was about one ton and said:
The rural cooperative of saffron growers in Vamsan region of Azadshahr
bought between 5 and 6.5 million tomans per kilogram of saffron.

Deputy of Horticulture Management of Jihad-e-Agriculture of Golestan Province stated:
Every year, saffron harvesting starts from the end of October.

Golestan province reaches the Republic of Turkmenistan from the north,
Mazandaran and Caspian provinces from the west,
Semnan province from the south and North Khorasan province from the east.

The area of this province is 22022 square kilometers, which occupies 33.1% of the total area of the country.

Shavar Mountain is the highest peak of the province
with an altitude of 3320 meters above sea level in the southwest of the province.
