Kerman – Director of Agriculture Jihad in Kuh Binh province announced the harvest of 900 kg of saffron this year in Kohbanan.
Ali Akbar Majidi, in an interview with Mehr, said: Due to the drought in the north of Kerman province and the necessity of changing the cultivation pattern, the cultivation of saffron cultivation in the city is on the agenda.
He said: this year, 900 kg of saffron has been harvested from the fields of the city, and the average harvest per hectare was five kilograms, which indicates the optimal yield of this crop in the city of Kuhbnan.
He called the product water-insoluble, adding that saffron cultivation could be replaced by over-watering crops, which provided water management.
Majidi announced the provision of fertilizers to farmers and said: We need to create a culture of agricultural and export-centered in the city.
He pointed to the unsafe rainfall situation in Kohban, adding that “the surface water of the underground and the water resources of the city is critical, and it should be strictly refused from traditional irrigation.
