Fars province is one of the largest saffron producers
“This year, 60 hectares of agricultural land in the province has been allocated to the development of saffron cultivation, which has increased by 15 percent, compared to last year,” the Fars Jihad Agriculture Organization’s Chief of Staff said.
Mehrzad Kherad said: Fars is the fifth province of the country in producing saffron.
He continued: in Fars province, the cities of Estahban, Bavanat, Abadeh, Eghlid and Sepidan are saffron producers.
Wisdom added that for 92, 93 and 94, 174 hectares of land have been identified, farmers have been trained and all facilities have been prepared for this cultivation.
He added: More than 400 hectares of land are currently allocated to saffron cultivation, which will increase by more than a thousand hectares in the future due to the specific characteristics of the cultivation and favorable geographical conditions of the Persian Gulf.
