Study of history shows that in the past and the present status of cultivation of saffron in Khorasan , which is now due to favorable market is expanding rapidly .
Research on various aspects of this species in the region of Khorasan, nutritional , pharmaceutical, and industrial importance , while useful to the local farmers , the country still has considerable currency .
It seems like around the Greek origin of cultivated and wild saffron Crocus sativus . Joe G. species known in the West of Iran Saffron . similarities , but the relationship of the saffron growing wild in Iran , the phylogeny is not known .
However, how to establish the origin of saffron is cultivated in Iran still remains obscure . In this study, iris botanical families (including gender saffron ) , saffron cultivated saffron growing wild in Iran and the probable ancestor was evaluated and is presented .
