Beginning of red gold (saffron) harvest from Zarand farms

Reza Mohammadi stated:
410 hectares of lands in this city are under saffron cultivation and the average harvest per hectare is 3 and a half to 4 kg.

Zarand Governor Ali Sadeghzadeh also said:
Due to the crisis of continuous droughts and severe groundwater decline,
saffron production due to its advantages over other irrigated crops, is considered as a cost-effective cultivation
and the achievement of the goals of the resistance economy in this region.

The governor of Zarand, stating that the cultivation of low-water crops such as saffron,
barberry and Mohammadi has flourished in recent years due to good weather conditions and soil quality in the mountainous lands of the city added: Every year we see an increase in cultivation of these crops.
And the county supports farmers in developing low-water crops instead of high-water crops.

Zia al-Dini, one of the saffron growers in Dashtkhak region,
referring to the good employment that has been created in the production of saffron in the region,
called for more attention from the officials in branding this quality product in the region.

Ghasemi, another farmer, said:
Considering that city is the center of saffron production in the province and Zarand saffron is of very high quality,
we ask provincial officials, especially the governor, to take effective measures regarding the brand and processing of this product.

Mehdi Ghorbani, another farmer, said:
Farmers in the region harvest saffron in a completely hygienic way. In fact, due to the climatic conditions,
the color and taste of saffron in the plain is of very high quality and can compete with the leading provinces in cultivating this product.
