Beginning of saffron harvest from 110 hectares of farms in Kashan city

The director of Kashan Agricultural Jihad announced the beginning of the saffron harvest season from 110 hectares of farms in this city.

Mazloumi introduced Alavi village as the largest producer of saffron in Kashan region and added:
about 50 hectares of land under saffron cultivation are in this village.

According to him, 2.5 kilograms of saffron is obtained from each kilogram of saffron flowers.

The director of Kashan Agricultural Jihad, stating that the saffron harvest in starts from the end of October and continues until the end of October, added:
Each hectare of saffron provides employment for five people.

Mazloumi said:
saffron onion can flower for up to seven years after cultivation and its propagation method is through onion.

Saffron is known as the most expensive spice in the world in terms of weight,
it is a plant that is used as a spice in cooking.
The crimson stigma and cream of saffron flowers are collected and dried and it is used for seasoning foods.
More than 90% of the world’s saffron is produced in Iran.
