Beginning of saffron harvest from 29 hectares of Kashan farms
The head of Kashan Jihad Keshavarzi Crop Production Improvement Department announced the beginning of saffron harvest from 29 hectares of farms in the city.
Sayyed Mostafa Ghamsari, stating that the highest area under saffron cultivation in Kashan belongs to Alavi village located in Niasar district, added:
it is expected that more than one hundred kg of saffron will be harvested from the farms of the city.
He mentioned the average harvest of dry saffron in this city per hectare is about three and a half kilograms and said:
the maximum yield of the crop in the region was eight kilograms and belonged to Hassanarood village.
Ghamsari pointed out:
The flowering time of saffron in November and the flowering period of this product is about 15 days.
According to him, due to the low water requirement of saffron and no need for irrigation in summer,
the cultivation of this crop in areas facing water shortages is economically viable and recommended.
The head of Kashan Agricultural Jihad added:
saffron onion planting will start in late summer before the weather cools down,
