Beginning of saffron harvest from 8 hectares in Tafresh city
Deputy Director of Agricultural Jihad of Tafresh city said: saffron harvest started from eight hectares of lands under cultivation of this crop in Tafresh
Mansour Karimi said: it is predicted that about 40 kilograms of pure saffron worth 1,600 million rials will be produced and supplied this year.
He said: Due to income generation and employment and the need for water shortage of this product, every year many farmers to plant and produce saffron in small plots of land to cultivate this product.
Karimi stated: In September and October of this year, 1,500 kilograms of saffron onions were given to farmers by the Tafresh Agricultural Jihad for planting.
He stated that the average yield of this product in this city is five kilograms per hectare and said: weed control and proper nutrition will increase the yield of saffron per unit area.
Deputy Director of Agricultural Jihad of Tafresh city reminded: more than 70 farmers of Tafresh city are active in saffron production.
