The head of Gilan Agricultural Jihad Organization said: saffron harvest started from 18 hectares of mountainous lands in Gilan.

He added: Gilani farmers will earn 800 million Tomans by harvesting this amount of saffron flowers from the mountainous lands of Rudsar, Amlash, Rudbar, Siahkal and Talesh counties.

He said that the harvest of saffron will continue until the end of November: Saffron is cultivated in potential mountainous areas of Gilan with an altitude of 1,200 to 2,300 meters above sea level.

The head of Gilan Agricultural Jihad Organization, stating that with the tests performed, Gilan saffron is better than saffron from other regions of Iran, said: “Color, taste and smell are factors in identifying quality saffron.”

Pointing out that saffron cultivation is a golden opportunity to create employment and income, Darjani added: “Saffron is one of the medicinal plants that, if it is compatible with the conditions of the region, will create significant economic change for the region at the lowest cost.”

He pointed to the distribution of saffron onions for free among farmers and said: those interested in growing saffron can refer to the agricultural jihad of the cities to receive saffron onions.
