Beginning of saffron harvest in 30 hectares in Golestan and Khorasan
Saffron harvest in Torbat-e Heydarieh begins every year from the beginning of November and continues until the end of December.
Torbat Heydariyeh, 145 km south of Mashhad, with the production of more than 50 tons of dry saffron in 30,000 hectares of cultivated area, is the largest region in terms of saffron production in the world.
In total, Iran is the largest producer of saffron in the world with a production of 1500 to 1700 tons and Khorasan Razavi province has the highest amount of saffron produced in the country.
Also, Wamnan, a village in Azadshahr, in the heart of the Alborz Mountains, has been a saffron cultivation center in Golestan province for several years, and the harvested crops of its farms are known as the highest quality saffron in the country.
The villagers come to their fields before sunrise and sometimes work late into the night to pick saffron flowers before they wither.
Due to the cultivation of saffron, the village of Vamnan has been named the Red Gold Pole in Golestan province, and the cultivation of this product has transformed the household economy.
