Beginning of saffron harvest in 5.5 tons in Sabzevar city

The director of Jihad Keshavarzi said: Simultaneously with the saffron harvest season, 5,500 kilograms of this product were harvested from 1,550 hectares of farms in Sabzevar and Shashtmad cities.

Ali Asghar Amanian added: The average harvest from each hectare of saffron farm in these cities has been about 3.5 kg, which is less than last year.
He continued: the suitable climate of the region, the lack of water demand for saffron and its profitability have increased the desire of farmers to cultivate this product.
Director of Sabzevar Agricultural Jihad said: Currently, three saffron processing and packaging centers are active in Sabzevar, and if the area under cultivation and production of this product increases, it is necessary to establish new processing and packaging centers in this city.
Sabzevar city has 54,000 hectares of arable land and 19,000 hectares of orchards in which about 20,000 farmers are active.
The center of this city is located 230 km west of Mashhad.
