He pointed out that saffron in the field of agriculture, a plant with high economic efficiency, said: the western region of the country and the Zagros with wild species of saffron can be a good source for cultivation and cultivation of the crop species.

Sibi, continued: Saffron can grow at an altitude of 1300 to 2300 meters above sea level and a temperature of -18 degrees to + 40 degrees Celsius, which Kurdistan province and almost all its cities have this ability.

He added: During the last few years, saffron cultivation was carried out as a pilot in three cities of Saqez, Kamyaran and Bijar. Unfortunately, due to the lack of support from relevant agencies, there are no official statistics on the cultivation status and harvest yield.

This expert on medicinal plants announced: According to the agricultural statistics of 1393, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economy of the Ministry of Jihad-e-Agriculture, the western provinces of the country such as Lorestan province, about 5 kg and 700 g, Hamedan province, 3 kg and 800 g and Kermanshah province, 3 kg and 900 g They have saffron per hectare, this amount is about three kilograms per hectare in Khorasan Razavi province, which is a leading province in the field of agriculture, so according to these statistics, Kurdistan province can also have this potential.

He stressed: saffron cultivation in Kurdistan province requires training through radio and television, the establishment of extension classes by the Agricultural Jihad Organization, providing facilities and low-interest loans to farmers and the support of the governor, which if realized, this can play an important role On the economic development of the province.

He concluded: Universities can also provide scientific information and data to farmers by concentrating the dissertations in the relevant fields and conducting more research in this regard.
