The South Khorasan Agricultural Insurance Fund is responsible for 60 percent damage to pomegranate and saffron in Khurasan.
Jawad Ghoncheh said in an interview with Isna’s correspondent referring to the sudden drop in temperature in the first half of December, saying that severe frostbite caused damage to saffron and pomegranate farms, which varied from 20 to 60 percent depending on the different regions of the country, which reduced quality And product quantity.
The director of the Agricultural Insurance Fund of Khorasan Jenobi added: “Due to the high level of pomegranate area in the Sarayan and Ferdos areas, we have had the highest pomegranate damage in these cities.”
Boonche stated: The temperature of the Sarayan and Ferdos cities in the first half of the month of December was 9 degrees below zero, most of the pomegranate gardens were damaged.
He also said that he was paying insurance for damage to the gardens: pomegranate orchards were insured but not insured, and the damage was not paid through insurance.
The director of the Agricultural Insurance Fund of South Khorasan continued: 1,300 hectares of saffron gardens were insured in the province, which is paid to farmers after estimating the amount of damages.
