Cultivation of 12 hectares of saffron in Kermanshah province
The director of Kermanshah agricultural jihad announced the cultivation of 12 hectares of saffron in this city.
Engineer Reza Zarei said:
in order to develop agriculture and in order to promote saffron cultivation among farmers in this region,
more than 12 hectares of saffron have been cultivated in this city this year.
Zarei added:
The main area under saffron cultivation is in Kuzran, Alhyar Khani, Mahidasht, Bilvar and Chaghanarges districts.
He added:
Considering the climatic conditions of this city, we predict that the saffron produced will be of good quality.
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Kermanshah city further said:
in order to develop and promote this valuable product, for each hectare of cultivated area,
the amount of 50 million Rials has been paid to farmers as part of the costs of preparing onions for this product from organizational credits.
He said:
saffron cultivation, in addition to the economic prosperity of the farmers of this city and the development of sustainable agriculture,
will also lead to saving water consumption.
Saffron cultivation started a few years ago in Kermanshah province and last year about 18 kg of crop was harvested from six hectares
of land under saffron cultivation in the province.
According to experiments, saffron produced in Kermanshah province has a very high quality.
