Cultivation of 15 hectares of saffron in Lorestan province

A member of the faculty of Lorestan Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Center said:
15 hectares of the province’s lands have been allocated for saffron cultivation.

The growth of wild saffron in the nature of Lorestan indicates that the climatic conditions of the province are suitable for the growth of saffron.

Khademi continued:
In this regard, the Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Center of the province,
in cooperation with the Agricultural Extension Coordination Management,
has implemented several projects to revive saffron cultivation for the past 10 years.
A member of the faculty of Lorestan Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Center said:
Fortunately, the results of unit level projects in research and extension farms have had a good average harvest.
He stated that the area under saffron cultivation in the country is about 41,325 hectares and its annual production is 150 to 180 tons of saffron.
He stated:
The amount of saffron cultivation in the province is 15 hectares;
Lorestan saffron is in a privileged position in terms of color, aroma and taste.
