Jalal Rahimzadeh, referring to the cultivation of saffron in the farms of Miyaneh city, said: in order to implement the programs of resistance economy, improving the cultivation pattern and replacing low-expectation products in terms of water needs is on the agenda of Jihad-e-Agriculture management experts.

He continued: The experts of this city have started promoting saffron cultivation in Miyaneh city four months ago by holding classes and workshops, which was carried out in more than four hectares of saffron in the new crop year.

The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Miyaneh special city said: considering the climate of Miyaneh city, soil fertility and very good yield in the last four years, it is predicted that less than four kilograms per hectare of saffron will be harvested in the first year.

Rahimzadeh stated that saffron cultivation will become one of the main crops of the city in the future, noting that saffron onion produces for more than seven years and its main economic performance is from the fourth year onwards, which is expected to yield more than four hectares per year. Kg.

He specified: The cultivation of saffron onions starts from July 6 and continues until October 26, while the harvest is 40 days after the end of cultivation in early November.

Rahimzadeh added: The cultivated onion cultivar cultivated in Miyaneh city has more resistance against stresses, pests and diseases and the saffron produced from it has excellent aroma and taste, which has a good marketability and the water requirement of this plant compared to other Less plants.

Regarding the payment facilities for farmers, the director of Jihad Keshavarzi Miyaneh pointed out: Due to the beginning of saffron cultivation time in Miyaneh city, farmers should refer to the horticulture unit of Miyaneh Keshavarzi management to obtain the required facilities.

Referring to the high quality of saffron produced in Miyaneh city in recent years due to the quality of water, soil and temperate climate, he added: Proper cultivation of saffron definitely has a significant impact on the quality of the final product and the choice of land, soil, climate, planting time, type and amount Onions, depth and planting method are factors that can play a key role in the proper planting of saffron.

Rahimzadeh stated: The maximum water requirement of this product is three times a year and it creates permanent and seasonal employment for about 30 people per hectare.

He reminded: for each hectare of land, about 3.5 tons of onions are needed, which is better to be prepared from similar climates.
