Experimental harvest of saffron from 2 hectares in Shahindaj city

The director of Jihad Keshavarzi Shahindaj announced the harvest of saffron from 2 hectares of experimental lands under cultivation of this crop in this city for the first time.

Saeed Khodaei stated: For the first time and experimentally, saffron was cultivated in two hectares of lands in this city, which is a successful project and is currently being harvested. The amount of saffron harvested from these lands is on average three kilos per hectare.

He added: Due to the need to change the cultivation pattern and in order to save water consumption and help revitalize Lake Urmia while maintaining the profitability of crops by Shahindaj Agricultural Jihad for the first time on 2 hectares of land in Yousef Kand village, also along the Zarrineh River Saffron has been cultivated.

Khodaei reminded: We intend to develop saffron cultivation and production in this city in the coming years with the coordination of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of the province.
