While Iran is one of the largest producers and exporters of saffron and about 35 countries are buyers of this product, in the first half of this year, saffron sales in general for the country amounted to $ 78 million.

Statistics show that saffron was worth less than $ 36 million in bulk and less than $ 42 million in ready-made retail packaging, while the price of bulk saffron this year was about $ 200 compared to the same period last year. The dollar and the price of saffron in 30-gram packages have risen by about $ 20.

Also, a statistical comparison between the amount of saffron exports during the first half of this year with the same period last year shows that the amount of saffron exports in the volume of more than 30 grams has increased by more than 60% in weight and 85% in value.

Meanwhile, in the same comparison, saffron exports in packages of 10 to 30 grams show a decrease of more than 30% in terms of weight and value.

Spain, meanwhile, is the largest buyer of bulk saffron in Iran, buying 13 tons of saffron in a package of more than 30 grams, followed by the UAE, Afghanistan, China and Italy.

But among the buyers of packaged saffron, the UAE is the largest customer with more than 18 tons of ready-to-sell saffron, followed by China and Saudi Arabia, which have each bought 4 tons of ready-to-sell saffron from Iran in the past six months.
