Exporters have disrupted the one-time consumption of the saffron market
A member of the National Saffron Council said: Some policies open the door for disposable exporters, and they are the ones who, by profiteering, destroy Iranian red gold in the domestic and foreign markets and disrupt the markets created by real exporters in the past decades ; Therefore, planning and policy-making must be done in a way that does not make things difficult for real exporters.
Iran annually produces about 400 tons of saffron, the harvest of which begins in mid-October each year. Iran is the largest producer and supplier of red gold in the world, which has a share of 95% of the world market.
Ali Hosseini, a member of the National Saffron Council, said about the production situation of this product: This year, about 120 hectares of lands in different provinces have been planted with saffron and it is predicted that about 400 tons of this valuable product will be produced because we have favorable climatic conditions.
He added: The only thing that has progressed in this field with the support of the National Saffron Council and the cooperation and participation of producers is the quality of saffron; Because most producers are looking to increase the quality production of saffron. The price of this product varies from five million and 500 thousand tomans to 12 million tomans depending on its quality.
Hosseini stated that if the government corrects its strictures on the return of foreign exchange from saffron exports, we will see an increase in its exports, adding that the quality of saffron has improved day by day and its price is reasonable in the global and domestic markets, but If the problems facing exporters today are not solved, we will face problems in exporting it. Of course, in the current situation, the government has the right to manage the currency resulting from the export of various products, but it can put aside its strictures for real exporters so that they can help export this valuable product better than before.
The member of the National Saffron Council stated that if we continue the mentioned strictures, we will open the door for disposable exporters and this has already happened, adding: the government can plan like in the 70’s to allow real saffron exporters to declare currency Give the results of their exports to the real importers to meet the needs of the country at a reasonable price in order to solve these problems.
He pointed : One of the problems in this field today is that each kilogram of saffron is offered between $ 700 to $ 1,000, but its price is recorded as $ 1,450 for the return of export currency, and this is why the statistics are false. It comes and the real exporters are in trouble.
