Extreme price drop for export saffron
According to the vice president of the Saffron Exporters Association, though the export price of saffron from 2,700 euros last year dropped by 53 percent to 1,200 euros, it still remains for Iranian farmers to use saffron.
According to ISNA, in those days when Iran’s rivals in saffron exports do not enjoy favorable conditions due to lower prices, it seems that the activists in this sector in Iran are not worried about this situation.
One of these rivals in Iran is Afghanistan, which now seems to have had no time for saffron cultivation.
In this case, Saeed Ghaffarzadeh, vice president of the Saffron Exporters Union, says that when they started saffron cultivation, saffron was worth 4,000 and 300 euros, but now they are not going to spend on saffron at a lower price.
According to Ali Hosseini, vice president of the Saffron Producers and Exporters Association of South Khorasan, with the decrease in the price of saffron, although the profit of Iranian farmers, the competitiveness of Iranian rivals is reduced.
Ghaffarzadeh points out about the price of saffron for the price of Iranian saffron export from 2,700 euros last year to 2,700 euros this year: Currently, saffron is priced at two million and 50,000 to two million and 100 thousand toomans from Farmers are bought because of these prices, although the profits of exporters are currently declining, but still going to farmers.
Ghaffarzade reminds us: on the other hand, farmers receive subsidies that seem to be the same money for their lives, and for this reason we still do not expect farmers to change their cultivation.
However, Mohsen Ehtesham, vice chairman of the National Saffron Council of Iran, has long pointed out the false price increase of saffron as a reason for losing the target markets for saffron and said: To pursue the establishment of an export promotion fund for saffron in order to prevent the fluctuation of the price of this product in the market Is important.
