Foreign currency contracts lead to increased smuggling of saffron
Ali Shariati Moghaddam, regarding the amount of export of saffron, said: The export volume of saffron last year was 12 thousand kilograms, and this figure has grown from last year.
Referring to the fact that saffron exports to 32 countries and most saffron applicants are European countries, he said: “In terms of production, we have more than 96 percent of global production of saffron, and the largest investment is in the hands of the private sector, standardized We are also at the high level and with a four-year plan, we can upgrade Iran’s saffron position.
Shariah said about the main problem of saffron in Iran: the main problem of saffron is unknown, and if saffron is introduced and advertised internationally, this product will play a significant role in the economy of the country.
He added: “There is also a large number of saffron exporters, a negative competition in the export sector, and a lack of understanding of export regulations that lead to smuggling in this regard, is one of the other problems facing the saffron industry.
Managing director of a Saffron producing company, regarding the degree of compliance of saffron with a global standard, said: The standard in our saffron production is higher than the commercial standard.
“The directive will increase smuggling and exhaust the actual exporter of saffron, and the one-time exporter will replace it, which should be revised,” Sharia told Al-Shorfa.
He said that smuggling of saffron and the existence of disposable exporters in the saffron industry have created problems that need to be exported by those who specialize in this problem.
“Also, standard units and sanitary units should be responsible for the export of saffron,” he said. “We hope that the organization of industry, mining and trade will finalize its proposals and implement it.”
