Harvesting 8 tons of dry saffron from Neishabour farms

Seyed Gholamreza Nabavinnamaghi added:
The area under saffron plant cultivation in Neishabour is 3,100 hectares,
which includes 2,800 hectares of fertile land and 300 hectares of infertile and young land.
He added: Neishabour saffron is often cultivated in the central areas,
the middle section and Zabrkhan of this city.

The deputy director and director of Neishabour Agricultural Jihad continued:
The amount of gross income of farmers working in this sector with direct and indirect employment
of more than 495 thousand people, is an amount of 254 billion rials.

Nabavi Namaghi stated:
In the current crop year, due to the special climatic conditions,
2.8 kg of saffron has been harvested from each hectare under cultivation and Neishabour
share of this year’s production is about eight tons of dry saffron.

Referring to the support of Neishabour Agricultural Jihad for saffron growers in the city, he explained:
Providing the required chemical and micronutrient fertilizers,
providing technical guidance and advice, and providing heaters to dry saffron
to farmers have been the support of Agricultural Jihad.

The deputy director and director of Neishabour Agricultural Jihad said: the construction of farms and ideal plans, implementation of model plans,
research and study on optimal planting methods and optimal use of inputs and facilities have led to better and more harvest.

Nabavi Namaghi stated: by following the guidelines of experts, the saffron farmer is able to harvest about 800 grams of saffron per hectare in the first year of planting.

He added:
Saffron is the most valuable plant in Iran that due to its special characteristics,
less water needs, more income and less management,
turquoise flowers of this plant also cover the lands of Neishabour
