Harvesting of 7600 kg of saffron from Neishabour farms began

The director of Neishabour agricultural jihad announced the beginning of saffron harvest from Neishabour farms.
Engineer Ali Dehbashian said:
Saffron has the lowest water consumption among agricultural and horticultural products,
therefore it is a very suitable product for planting in arid and semi-arid regions.
He added:
Khorasan Razavi and South Khorasan provinces with the production of more than 94% of the country’s saffron production
are the first to produce this product with export value,
but the bulk export of this product has caused the producers not to have a significant income.
The director of Neishabour agricultural jihad said:
the area under cultivation of this crop in Neishabour city is 2460 hectares,
of which 1900 hectares are fertile farms and 560 hectares are young and infertile farms.
He predicted the average yield of saffron at 4 kg per hectare and added:
with 1900 hectares of fertile land, 7600 kg of dry saffron will be harvested.
He reminded:
the implementation of saffron rescue plan after the cold of 1986 in 1600 hectares of farms during spraying
with Delfard fertilizer was done for free last year and this amount strengthens saffron bulbs and increases the production
of this product after frost damage.
The director of Neishabour Agricultural Jihad advised farmers to avoid increasing the area under uncultivated cultivation,
and this is despite the fact that due to the increase in the price of saffron in recent years,
the area under saffron cultivation has increased by 30%, which many farmers without considering Suitable for this product, they cultivate it.
