Harvesting saffron in 87 hectares of agricultural fields in Qazvin province

The director of the Jihad Horticulture Organization of Qazvin province said:
saffron harvest started in 87 hectares of agricultural fields in the province.

Ali Akbari added:
This area is under cultivation of 13 and a half hectares
of barren seedlings and 73 and a half hectares of fertile seedlings.
He stated that the average yield of this product is three kilograms per hectare and said:
According to the more than 220 kg of this cultivated saffron is produced.
Akbari added:
Saffron is a subtropical plant that grows well in mild winters and hot and dry summers.
He continued by stating that the development of saffron in Qazvin province,
which has a desirable quantitative and qualitative effect,
Horticulture director of Jihad Agricultural Organization of Qazvin province added:
Saffron activity starts in October and blooms from November to mid-December.
Akbari stated:
Saffron in coloring, medicine, traditional medicine, food, confectionery,
ice cream, distillates, essential oils, perfumery and cosmetics.
