Although saffron exports in the first four months of this year increased by about 25 percent compared to last year, statistics show that the price of this product has decreased compared to last year and its trade has been done at the lowest price due to being bulk.

In the first four months of this year, 58 tons and 214 kg of saffron in various packages were exported to 50 countries worth 78 million 580 thousand 656 dollars, which is 25.30% by weight and 22 compared to the same period last year. 91% increase in value.

Spain, Australia, South Africa, Afghanistan, Germany, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Italy, Bahrain, Belgium, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Taiwan, Turkey, Czech Republic, Republic of Korea, China, Japan, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland , Iraq, Oman, France, Philippines, Qatar, Canada, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Nepal, Norway, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Hong Kong and Greece were customers of Iranian saffron in the first four months of Iran.
However, the price of saffron in this period compared to last year has decreased by 8.16 percent and from $ 1470 last year (equivalent to about four million and 500 thousand tomans) to 1350 dollars in the first four months (equivalent to about four million and 390 thousand Toman) has arrived, but with a closer look at the statistics of Iranian saffron trade in world markets, we find that the export of this product in bulk packages that have the lowest price, has a significant increase compared to exports in smaller packages that are also more valuable.

Because during this period, saffron exports in packages of more than 30 grams had a share of about 68%, equivalent to 39 tons and 839 kg, and the trade of crushed and unground saffron had a share of about 31%, equivalent to 18 tons and 350 kg, which is more than 99% of the total saffron trade will be reached in the first four months of this year, and a share of less than one percent will be allocated to the export of Iranian saffron in packages of less than 10 grams and 10 to 30 grams.

Meanwhile, the price of each kilogram of saffron in packages of less than 10 grams was about 13 million and 668 thousand tomans. While bulk saffron in packages of more than 30 grams per kilogram has a price of 4 million and 100 thousand tomans and crushed and unground saffron in a package of 4 million and 905 thousand tomans per kilogram, and more interestingly, export saffron in packages of more than 30 grams even from the average price The trade of each kilogram of saffron is equivalent to 4 million and 381 thousand tomans less.

Saffron is considered as a unique currency product for Iran, which has a high advantage in its production and trade, but unfortunately the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture does not pay attention to this product as it should, and according to experts and private sector officials in countries such as Afghanistan and China. Etc. will gradually replace Iran in the production and trade of saffron.
