Increasing saffron cultivation in Khorasan in other provinces

The head of the Khorasan Razavi Saffron Exporters’ Union said:
The tendency of farmers in other provinces to plant saffron for the future of this product is worrying.

Gholamreza Miri stated:
Unfortunately, today we see that in the provinces where there is enough water for agriculture,
and this is worrying for the future of this product in terms of price and global market.

He pointed out:
Saffron is a crop that does not require much water to cultivate and has high employment.
Currently, 120,000 households in Khorasan Razavi and South Khorasan make a living by working in this field and provide their income in this way.
we will easily lose the position of job creation and being the first producer of saffron in the world.

Emphasizing the need to determine the pattern of saffron cultivation regions in Iran, Miri stated:
If saffron is to be cultivated in all provinces, we will not have such a global market for the product and we will face a sharp decline in prices.

The head of the Khorasan Saffron Exporters Union announced the annual production of 250 to 300 tons of saffron in Iran and said:
the export ceiling of this product is 150 tons and there is no more export capacity of this product.
